Thailand’s Masita has recently introduced a new truffle‑flavoured Masita seaweed snack with a savory Italian truffle twist, adding a little bit of luxury to a product commonly associated with the mass market.
Containing no MSG and artificial flavors, the new product is priced at Bt20 (US$0.62) in a 4g packaging. It is positioned as a premium snack judging by its beautiful purple-shade packaging, and stands out compared to its other seaweed snack variants available in the market.
Consumers get to enjoy crispy Korean-style roasted seaweed in intense, savory truffle aroma which can be bought at most 7-Eleven convenience stores in Thailand.
Known for being low in calories while being rich in nutrients like vitamins B,C and E and minerals like Calcium and Iron, razor thin seaweed snacks actually originated in East Asia – primarily from Japan and China. Innovation in seaweed snacks was heavily influenced by the traditional papermaking sector. Thailand has its own popular seaweed snack brands which include Tao Kae Noi and Masita.
