NESCAFE RED CUP Origin Selection has recently introduced its new, limited-edition Surathani range, a single-origin coffee made from award-winning Robusta beans grown in Surat Thani province in southern Thailand.
This new product is the end-result of NESCAFE Robusta Contest 2020 which aims to find the best Robusta coffee beans in the country. The contest winner, a coffee bean sourced from the coffee plantation belonging to Pongsak Balmuang located in Surat Thani was selected. The coffee bean then went through the necessary roasting process according to NESCAFE’s proprietary Micronised Roasted Coffee technology.
The new NESCAFE RED CUP Origin Selection Surathani has a smooth taste with a strong body. In addition, it also has a rich nutty aroma that suggests a hint of dark chocolate, which offers a delightful experience to coffee drinkers.
This limited-edition NESCAFE RED CUP Origin Selection Surathani is now sold online as well as in retail channels in 2 different packaging sizes of 45g and 90g at Bt39 (US$1.23) and Bt79 (US$2.50) respectively.
One wonders why there seems to be growing use of local ingredients in making new products. There is a possibility that COVID-19 pandemic has a role to play as companies seek to utilise local resources as much as possible bearing the current difficulties in shipping and obtaining steady supply of raw materials from overseas. In addition, one can also attribute the reason to the growing sustainability movement which promotes localisation and employment of locals.
