Nestle is investing more than US$194.1 million on boosting its Purina Pet Food production in Thailand. Its manufacturing site in Rayong produces pet food and treats under the Felix, Friskies, Pro Plan, and Purina One brands.
The facility will supply both the domestic and international markets.
According to Remy Ejel, CEO of Nestlé’s Asia, Oceania and Africa business, “Pet Food is one of Nestle’s most dynamic segments globally, accounting for around 21% of group sales. This new investment reflects our confidence in its long-term potential across Asia, Oceania and Africa as well as the rest of the world. Thailand is an important part of Purina’s global manufacturing network, and this expansion will enhance our ability to serve more pet owners with superior nutrition.”
The pet food industry is growing rapidly, based on Nestle estimate that there are more than 350 million domesticated cats and dogs across Asia, Oceania and Africa region. Pet owners are also increasingly moving from home-prepared meals to packaged products, particularly in the premium segment. According to Nestle, Wet cat food is its main revenue contributor, supported by new product launches in key markets.
The Thailand investment forms part of a broader expansion of Nestle manufacturing base in the country. Earlier on, Nestle also announced a US$688 million investment in a new Nescafé factory and distribution centre in Samut Prakan, with operations due to begin in the 2nd half of 2028.
