Cargill is planning to set aside Bt 2 billion (US$59.8 million) to boost the capacity of its cooked poultry operations in Thailand.
The investment includes a new automated production line for cooked chicken products at its poultry site in Saraburi, less than 2-hour drive from Bangkok. It is set for completion by 2028. This will boost its cooked poultry volume to 160,000 metric tonnes, and increase Cargill’s export revenue by an additional Bt25 billion (US$1 billion).
In addition, Cargill is also building a 30,000 metric ton grain silo for chicken feed at Cargill’s facility in Nakhon Ratchasima province in Thailand’s north-east Isaan region.
Watcharapon Prasopkiatpoka, Cargill’s Vice President and Poultry Managing Director for APAC said, “Demand for high-quality protein continues to grow across global markets, and customers are looking for reliable innovation partners who can help them scale with confidence. This investment strengthens our ability to deliver poultry products with the quality and consistency our customers need.”
Cargill exports cooked poultry products from Thailand to foodservice and retail customers in other Asian destinations like Japan, as well as Europe and North America.
Cargill is also planning to integrate AI to optimise its production and safety/quality control.
