The Jollibee Group has opened its 1st Philippine store of its popular South Korean brand Compose Coffee as it seeks the right formula to establish stronger presence in this market which is dominated by Starbucks.
The opening also marks Jollibee Group’s broader ambition to scale up its coffee and tea business. With Compose Coffee, it brings into the Philippines a model already proven successful in South Korea where it has over 3,000 stores. It has also successfully penetrated the Taiwanese market.
South Korea has one of the most competitive coffee market globally and Compose Coffee’s growth in this environment shows the strength of a brand built on quality, value, consistency, and disciplined execution. Compose Coffee Korea CEO Gordon Cho said, “Together with the Jollibee Group, we are bringing that same discipline to the Philippines—the discipline that helped Compose Coffee become one of Korea’s leading coffee chains—while staying close to Filipino consumers and what they value in their everyday coffee experience.”
The expansion in the Philippines will be via franchising model, as Jollibee aims to build the largest Compose Coffee network outside Korea in the Philippines within the next 5 years.
