Goodman Fielder aims to capture growing demand for value-added dairy products in Asia after completing a NZ$100 million (US$57.6 million) expansion of its Christchurch processing plant in New Zealand.
The Singapore-owned food business, which owns the Meadow Fresh brand, has more capacity now to manufacture high-value Ultra-High Temperature (UHT) products for domestic and export markets.
At the centre of the investment is the new Meadow Fresh High Value Dairy Centre, which helps to support its growing presence in China and Southeast Asia.
Goodman Fielder has also established long-term supply partnership with Yihai Kerry Arawana, a subsidiary of Goodman Fielder’s parent Wilmar International, for retail and foodservice markets across the region.
Goodman Fielder had invested heavily over the past 3 years to expand its UHT production of not only milk and cream products, but also a range of other protein-based products.
Goodman Fielder produces well-known brands in the dairy, bakery and sugar segments from Meadow Fresh to Molenberg, Puhoi Valley, Edmonds and Chelsea, and operates 12 manufacturing sites, including its dairy sites at Christchurch and Longburn.
Its parent company, Wilmar recorded revenue of US$70.4 billion in 2025, while Goodman Fielder NZ recorded US$1.1 billion in revenue.
According to Goodman Fielder, other dairy processors are also investing heavily in UHT facilities to take advantage of rising demand in Asia particularly in China and Vietnam. UHT products can be stored for longer without refrigeration, thereby maximising revenue potential while reducing spoilage for companies in the longer term.
