Vietnam’s Food Safety Authority has recently issued a warning and done an immediate recall of 3 batches of a2 Platinum Premium infant formula due to the presence of cereulide, a heat-stable toxin produced by Bacillus cereus bacteria.
The recall was initiated to protect consumer health following a 2 May safety alert from the US FDA after the A2 Milk Company voluntarily recalled the 31.7-ounce (900g) tin products sold in the US market.
The affected batches include lot 2210269454 with an expiration date of 15 July 2026, lot 2210324609 expiring 21 January 2027, and lot 2210321712 expiring 15 January 2027.
Vietnamese authorities have informed local health departments to halt the distribution and consumption of the products, while e-commerce platforms are instructed to remove the substandard items to prevent acute food poisoning, which can cause severe liver damage in infants.
