ThaiBev is now considering the sale of its 500 KFC outlets, which could mark one of the largest fast food deals in Thailand’s recent history.
Weak profits in the foodservice sector has led to the decision to dispose KFC. This contrasts sharply from ThaiBev’s booming main beverage business.
The sale will mean that KFC will operate under a new franchise owner. Currently, ThaiBev’s KFC operations are managed through its subsidiary, QSR of Asia Company Limited (QSA), which is also Thailand’s largest KFC franchise holder.
Apart from QSR, other KFC franchise operators in Thailand include Central Plaza Hotel which runs about 347 stores, and Restaurants Development (240 stores).
According to a ThaiBev spokesperson, KFC offers a slim profit margin of only 0.5% and this division contributed only 0.34% of ThaiBev’s total group profit of Bt 15.965 billion (US$473.5 million) during the 6 months ended 31 March 2026.
