A partnership between a smaller local entrepreneur with an MNC has set the tone for future collaboration between small and bigger players in the market.
Tealive, known for its signature milk tea drinks, has collaborated with Dutch Lady Malaysia to launch ready-to-drink (RTD) dairy beverage as part of its move to expand the availability of cafe-style drinks through retail channels.
The collaboration introduces 2 products namely MooTea (Signature Milk Tea) and MeowCha (Signature Matcha) which are now available nationwide.
Tealive’s Founder and CEO Bryan Loo said the RTD segment enables the company to reach consumers through existing retail networks beyond its existing 1,000+ cafe outlets. The move is part of Tealive’s strategy to expand the brand presence in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) market.
Bryan said, “Unlike opening additional outlets, RTD enables Tealive to scale nationally through existing retail infrastructure, allowing the brand to reach consumers in locations where standalone stores may not be commercially viable.”
This is also part of a long term strategy to build Tealive into a broader lifestyle brand, where consumers can enjoy Tealive’s most loved flavors in a format that allows them to enjoy wherever they are, while combining the strengths of both brands to create something new for the market.
Dutch Lady Malaysia Managing Director Veronika Utami said the collaboration supports the company’s efforts to expand dairy consumption through new product formats while strengthening its presence in the out-of-home segment. She said, “Consumers today are looking for products that combine convenience, enjoyment and nutritional value. This collaboration brings together trusted dairy nutrition and flavours that Malaysians already know and love in a format that fits modern lifestyles. It also reflects our ambition to bring dairy into more moments throughout the day and make it more relevant to evolving consumer lifestyles. By combining our dairy expertise with Tealive’s beverage innovation, we are creating products that consumers can enjoy with confidence while continuing to deliver quality nutrition.”
The beverages are currently manufactured at Dutch Lady’s facility in Bandar Enstek.
