Major biscuit and snack food manufacturer, Monde M.Y. San Corporation has unveiled plan to build a Pesos 5 billion (US$81.2 million) plant at the TECO Industrial Park-Special Economic Zone in Mabalacat, Pampanga.
According to the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), a registration agreement has already been signed on 23 June for the construction of the plant at TECO, a 250-hectare industrial park registered with PEZA. This new plant will manufacture its flagship SkyFlakes brand and sandwich products.
M.Y. San, was originally established in 1935 as an ice cream parlor, and later became widely known for its snack and biscuit brands like SkyFlakes, Fita Crackers and M.Y. San Biscuits. It is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Monde Nissin Corp.
The new facility will be operational by 2027 and will offer direct employment to the food manufacturing sector in Central Luzon. For PEZA, the investment reflects growing appeal of ecozones as an investment hub for local and foreign companies seeking to expand their operations beyond Metro Manila area.
PEZA also fosters sustainable industrial development with the use of renewable energy like solar power.
