In May 2026, Malaysian Flour Mills (MFM) enters into production of ready-to-eat (RTE) meals, as it celebrates its 60th anniversary.
MFM is capitalising on the rising halal food demand with its new line of halal-certified microwaveable products. The initial launch features 4 protein-rich clean label meals which include charcoal-grilled satay, ayam masak merah (chicken in red sauce), ayam kicap (chicken in soy sauce), and ayam kam heong (kam heong chicken).
This latest investment move aims to diversify MSM’s portfolio beyond its traditional business which is in the flour and poultry segments. The new RTE products are designed for time-constrained consumers and MFM aims to expand into both domestic and export markets.
The new launch is also in line with Malaysia’s position as an international halal production hub. MFM Business Development and Government Relations Head Azhari Arshad said other countries are looking to Malaysia as a benchmark for halal standards, creating significant growth opportunities for domestic food manufacturers like MFM. Arshad added, “Countries are looking at the country because it is considered the halal gold standard.”
To capture growing demand, MFM is seeking to expand its processing capacity while accelerating automation efforts across its operations to improve efficiency and long-term scalability.
