Thai President Foods (TPF), the producer of Mama instant noodles, has reported a sharp decline in both sales and profits for the 3rd quarter, mainly attributed to external headwinds in critical international markets.
The company’s Q3 sales dropped by 12.17% year-on-year to Bt 6,693.27 million (US$207.6 million), while net profit fell by 18.62% to Bt 853.65 million (US$26.5 million). The overall performance for the first 9 months of 2025 also awa revenue and profit declined by 6.44% and 15.64% respectively.
According to Pun Paniangvait, TOF General Manager, the most significant reason for the decline was attributed to 30% drop in international sales. Exports, which previously accounted for up to 28% of sales, have now fallen to 18%.
Pun has identified key market challenges in 2 major export markets namely Cambodia, which saw the full impact of the ongoing Thai-Cambodian conflict hampering export while leading to rising nationalism among Cambodians to avoid Thai-made goods. Another major export market, the US, is also impacted by uncertainties due to the trade tariffs. TPF major export markets for Mama noodles include Cambodia (18%), US (12%), Australia and Europe.
Despite the overall slump in exports, domestic sales saw minor growth of 2%, credited to the launch of new products such as the Mama boat noodle and Oriental Kitchen (OK) series.
In response to these market challenges, TPF is focusing on developing new markets to offset the setback. Pun said, “Previously, we only generate sales in the low hundreds of millions of baht in China. Now, we will utilise our full production capacity to aggressively penetrate the Chinese market.”
