Kazakhstan’s iconic Rakhat confectionery brand has unveiled plan to expand its exports to South Korea, Indonesia, and Thailand.
Rakhat currently operates 2 production facilities in Almaty and Shymkent with a combined annual capacity of more than 100,000 tonnes and produces over 500 confectionery products.
Exports currently account for 22% of total sales, with Russia making up about 65% of overseas shipments. Rakhat products are also sold in Central Asia, the South Caucasus, China, Mongolia, Afghanistan, and Germany amongst others.
South Korea, Indonesia, and Thailand are expected to become the company’s next export markets.
Rakhat was established in 1942, and it went through a new transition in 2013 when South Korea’s LOTTE Confectionery acquired a controlling stake.
