Singapore-based Jumbo Group has big plans for expansion, relying on its mainland China growth and experience to support its ambition.
Its subsidiary Jumbo F&B Service has formed a joint venture (JV) with China’s Laoxiangji Holdings to establish and operate Chinese-style quick-service restaurants under the Lausanjee brand in Singapore. Laoxiangji however holds the rights to the Lausanjee trade marks and trade names, as well as the franchisor, for Singapore. Lausanjee is known for its chicken soups and dishes.
Jumbo F&B Services will hold 49% stake in the new JV while Laoxiangji will hold the majority (51%) stake.
Laoxiangji currently serves more than 150 million customers annually in China, and operates over 1,600 restaurants – both directly-operated and franchised – across more than 50 cities in the country.
The JV will bring Laoxiangji’s popular brand of Chinese-style quick-service restaurants from China to Singapore.
The JV is in line with Jumbo’s plan to expand its F&B brands and market share in Singapore.
Amidst a challenging food services market in Singapore, Jumbo has invested S$10 million (US$7.75 million) in 2025 in a new 90,000 sq.ft headquarter in Tai Seng, Singapore which houses its corporate office, central kitchen, logistics centre, a training academy as well as a new food hall concept Jumboree. The central kitchen has just become operational in end-June 2026. Jumbo has also setup its new subsidiary, Jumbo Catering Services in December 2025.
In China, Jumbo did exceptionally well with 9 Jumbo Seafood restaurants across 7 cities in China which include Shanghai and Sanya. China accounted for 10% of the group’s revenue.
In Southeast Asia, Jumbo will open its 1st Jumbo Seafood restaurant in Indonesia in Jakarta in July this year.
Jumbo’s latest F&B ventures like Lausanjee and Jumboree are expected to cushion Jumbo’s impending loss of revenue due to closure of its flagship Jumbo Seafood outlet at East Coast Seafood Centre by 30 September this year.
