Singapore’s largest supermarket chain, NTUC FairPrice has recently launched FairPrice on Wheels, a pilot community initiative to provide basic essential grocery items in selected mature estates that have a higher concentration of low-income seniors through specially outfitted grocery vans.
These mobile vans will carry a selected range of essentials like rice, bread, instant noodles, cooking oil, canned food, toiletries, fruits and vegetables amongst others.
Seniors or the elderly who make their purchases from these ‘cash-only’ vans, which operate daily from 9am to 2pm, will also be able to enjoy discounts on designated days.
FairPrice On Wheels will initially serve 5 locations in Singapore.
