The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department in Hong Kong has earlier announced that samples of frozen confectionery imported from Malaysia were found to contain coliform bacteria exceeding the legal limit. The affected product however has not entered the market and is still stored in the importer’s warehouse.
The affected product is King Don’t Lie Musang King Durian Gelato Plant-Based, and the CFS has temporarily suspended the importation and sale of the product, and has informed the Malaysian authority accordingly.
The product is manufactured by Gainly Enterprise Limited and has an expiry date of 12 September 2027. Three samples collected found coliform bacteria ranging between 110 and 130 per gram, exceeding the legal limit of 100 per gram as indicated under the Frozen Confections Regulation (Cap. 132AC).
