China is set to introduce a set of guidelines for workers in the food production and catering industry to control and prevent COVID-19 outbreak.
The new guidelines will be based on past studies collected from previous infection cases, and will include systematic epidemic containment measures, said Zhang Zhiqiang, an official with the National Health Commission.
The new COVID-19 control measures will cover all areas from the training of relevant personnel, their health management, the resumption of businesses, the cleaning and disinfection of facilities, the disposal of contaminated food, and protection measures in food service industries.
The new guidelines will be made public soon after final review from a panel of experts.
Zhang also added that a set of sanitary standards will also be published to better regulate the production, processing, transport and retailing of food via cold chains so as to prevent possible viral contamination.
