Yili Group, the largest dairy producer in Asia, has recently been awarded with 2022 Business Indonesia Corporate Social Responsibility Awards (BISRA).
Yili Indonesia, which produces the popular Joyday Ice Cream, was named ‘The Most Collaborative Food and Beverage Company in Accelerating Vaccination & Covid-19 Response’.
According to the organising committee, Yili is committed to social activities – spanning from combatting the Covid-19 pandemic and supporting the economic recovery to caring for children and vulnerable groups – which benefit the public and demonstrate Yili’s compassion.
Yu Miao, President Director of PT Yili Indonesia Dairy said, “In Indonesia, the company has implemented 12 assistance programs to help the country to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, donating over 100,000 face masks, 600,000 ice cream products and other medical and daily supplies, such as isolation gowns and protective goggles, to local residents.”
As one of the top 5 ice cream brands (by market share) in Indonesia currently, Joyday ice creams are sold throughout more than 300 cities, covering all of Indonesia’s 34 provinces.
Yili has also introduced a series of preferential and subsidy policies targeting local dealers to boost their revenues and donated a large number of freezers and ice cream carts to create more job opportunities and support the local economic recovery.
BISRA is co-organised by Indonesia’s Ministry of National Development Planning, Habitat for Humanity Indonesia and Bisnis Indonesia. A joint review committee was established by the 3 parties to evaluate the sustainability, scope, social impact, and public feedback of companies’ CSR programs.
In December 2021, Yili was invited by Indonesia’s Ministry of Investment to participate in the country’s economic revitalisation plan aimed at creating new opportunities for small and medium enterprises (MSME). Within the same month, the Yili Indonesia Dairy Production Base was put into operation, enabling more local partners to engage with Yili’s global network and benefit from the win-win situation.
Apart from CSR, Yili has also done its part for sustainability. In June, it introduced a new packaging which applies the technology of ink reduction printing. This allows it to save ink consumption by up to 60% with the outer carton 80% made of recycled paper. By upgrading into paper handles, every 100,000 outer cartons will reduce plastic usage equating to 260 kg.
