Yakult Honsha Co., Ltd. has recently announced that Wuxi Yakult Co., Ltd. (Wuxi Plant), a production subsidiary of Yakult (China) Corporation has started production of Yakult 50 Billion Light, a high value-added fermented milk drink.
With the commencement of production at Wuxi Yakult Plant 2, the Yakult Group now has a total of 7 plants operating in 5 cities in mainland China and these include in Guangzhou (Plant 1 and Plant 2), Shanghai, Tianjin, Wuxi (Plant 1 and Plant 2), and Foshan.
According to Yakult, demand for fermented milk drink is expected to recover after the pandemic in the near future. There is a growing demand for products with high bacteria counts in the fermented milk drink segment. Yakult Group aims to expand sales by introducing Yakult 50 Billion Light, which contains 50 billion of Yakult’s proprietary Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota in addition to dietary fiber and nutrients such as vitamin D and E, and Calcium.
The 2nd plant in Wuxi has a floor area of 34,000 sq.metre with a daily production capacity of 900,000 bottles.
In China, Yakult sold more than 4 million bottles per day, excluding Guangdong and Hainan provinces.
