Vietnam Dairy Products JSC (Vinamilk), the country’s largest dairy producer, and Japan’s Sojitz Corporation will break the ground on a beef cattle complex project costing US$500 million in northern Vinh Phuc province in June.
The first phase of this project will have a designed annual capacity of 20,000-30,000 cow herd, and is expected to be operational in 2023.
In late last year, Vinamilk signed a MoU with Sojitz to establish a joint-venture for beef production, processing and distribution in Vietnam and for export. In the next phase of cooperation, the joint venture will develop other protein-based products with deep processing technology.
This project is expected to lay a solid foundation for new development of the livestock industry and processing of safe and high quality meat products in Vietnam for both domestic and international markets in the near future.
