Popular brands belonging to Universal Robina Corporation (URC) such as Great Taste, Piattos and C2, have consistently been among consumers’ favourites in the Philippines, according to a survey done by UK-based Kantar Group.
Bea Coronel, Kantar’s Client Manager & Brand Footprint Philippines Lead said, “URC brands such as Great Taste and Piattos have consistently been part of the most chosen brands for Total FMCG and Total Food categories in the Philippines.” Over the years, C2 and Nova by URC also went up the ladder to be placed among the most chosen beverages and food brands.
Kantar ranked URC’s Great Taste coffee as the 4th most chosen beverage brand in the Philippines, and 15th among so-called FMCG goods in its Brand Footprint survey for 2022. The survey by Kantar utilises a reliable metric called CRP or ‘Consumer Reach Point’, which measures a brand strength based on how many shoppers are buying the brand and how often. Great Taste recorded up to 283 million CRPs in the 2022 survey.
Meanwhile URC other snack brands like Piattos and Nova corn chips garnered 146 million CRPs while Nova gained 61 million CRPs effectively ranking them at 7th and 20th in the survey.
One URC RTD Tea brand, C2 is not only ranked 19th in the Philippines but is also ranked 18th in Vietnam. Meanwhile URC instant-noodles joint-venture brand Nissin and Payless are in the list of the Top 10 fastest growing brands in the Philippines with 7% and 10% growth respectively. According to Kantar, Nissin has been successful in reaching more homes for all its segments, not just its popular ramen. Meanwhile, Payless’ Xtra Big in large value-for-money packaging is driving growth as more shoppers go on more trips.
