In the domestic Thai market, Thai Union (TU) has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with local business V Foods to develop and expand its plant-based meat business.
Under the new deal, V Foods will be able to use TU’s manufacturing facilities to develop plant-based meat products, while both partners hope to co-develop new products and expand into both the domestic and global markets.
TU’s CEO Thiraphong Chansiri said, “We are pleased to start our journey with V Foods, whose vision on innovation and food is a great fit with our core values.”
Apirak Kosayodhin, CEO at V Foods said, “We are excited about the opportunity to collaborate with Thai Union on alternative proteins and RTE plant-based food, and to drive growth in the Thai market while continuing to explore international markets.”
V Foods is the owner of the V Farm RTE sweetcorn and corn milk brand which are Thailand’s leading brands in their separate food segments, and the More Meat plant-based range. The company’s V Farm brand covers RTE Golden Sweet corn with a variety of flavors; RTE steamed healthy set of corn, purple potato and pumpkin; RTE plant-based product ‘Farm Fried Larb’ and healthy beverages that include corn milk and pumpkin juice.
Earlier on, V Foods invested in More Food Innotech Ltd., a foodtech startup plant-based protein producer and distributor under the More Meat brand. The 2 companies co-develop its latest product, plant based fried Larb, which is made from splitgill mushroom with zero additives and branded as V Farm. This innovation in the food industry not only offers more choices to vegetable lovers (vegans) but also supports the mushroom growers looking for sustainable living.
