In recent months, we witness a number of food-related joints exiting from the Singapore market either due to stiff competition or poor performance amidst rising operating costs in the country.
US-based egg sandwich retailer, Eggslut, has decided to exit from the market after just 4 years, following its decision to also withdraw from South Korean and Hong Kong. Other food service joints like Holland & Barrett, Burger & Lobster and Milksha have also decided to exit from the Singapore market.
British health and wellness retailer, Holland & Barrett closed all 12 of its outlets in Singapore recently, marking an exit for the brand after more than 15 years. At its peak, there were 27 Holland & Barrett stores in the country. The stores sell a wide range of health products from vitamins and minerals to other supplements. It also carried items such as healthy snacks, organic food and organic toiletries.
