Singha Park Chiang Rai, or alternatively known as Boon Rawd Farm, will expand its manufacturing plants with full-scale tea production in Nan, located in the northern part of Thailand.
The park will invest in an international standard tea factory which will also be equipped with a R&D team with Assam tea as new tea variants apart from the existing Oolong tea.
Pongrat Luangthamrongcharoen, Managing Director of Singha Park Chiang Rai, said that the Park (company) currently excels in genuine Japanese tea production through Maruzen Foods (Thailand) Co., Ltd. with a joint investment in a factory with Maruzen Tea Japan, Japan’s leading tea manufacturer. The factory serves as the first and only tea manufacturing plant outside of Japan and in Southeast Asia and aims to elevate the tea manufacturing industry to new heights with Japanese quality standards.
Luangthamrongcharoen said, “There is an increasing demand for tea, a result of market expansion in the food and beverage industry, like the huge increase in the bubble tea market in the past 3 years. The increasing demand and COVID-19 pandemic have driven demand for tea in the country because imported tea is affected by higher import taxes. Hence, food and beverage providers have turned to homegrown tea, which drove demand for Singha Park Chiang Rai’s tea and opened up new trials for consumers to experience our product quality. Our ability to produce various products at the right price is also key to higher orders.”
The company’s plan for 2022-2025 is to increase tea production and build a new factory in Nan province with contract farming, and to research on Assam tea variants. The company will learn from its past experience with Oolong tea, which is its main export item. The R&D team will work on product differentiation to fit to B2B customers’ needs within the food, beverage, bakery and other businesses, as well as for B2C customers.
The company will also work closely with tea farmers and impart knowledge to boost quality of tea products.
The manufacturing and processing of Assam tea in the new factory in Nan will create new tea products and recipes for consumers in business sectors like premium Thai tea and Taiwan tea which will use Assam tea for milk tea and fruit tea amongst others.
