In Singapore, the government is actively encouraging stakeholders as well as the public to support the Recycle N Save initiative, as part of its nationwide goal to support the environment and encourage plastic recycling.
Four new partners have recently joined the next phase of the Recycle N Save initiative with 5 new reverse vending machines without rewards system deployed in schools since March 2020, to inculcate recycling habits amoung the younger consumers.
Meanwhile, more smart Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) will be set up across the island from 30 June 2020 under the Recycle N Save initiative, offering a wider range of non-monetary rewards to households when they recycle their empty plastic drink bottles and aluminium drink cans at the smart RVMs. For those who recycle with the sole objective of protecting the environment, they can opt without redeeming the reward.
The RVM programme, part of the Recycle N Save initiative started by F&N Foods and the National Environment Agency (NEA), will be supported by 4 new partners, CapitaLand, Sport Singapore, Sentosa Development Corporation and Anywheel.
Since the launch of the Recycle N Save initiative in October 2019, over 2.4 million plastic drink bottles and aluminium drink cans have been collected through the 15 RVMs that have been rolled out so far.
F&N is one of the region’s most established and successful home-grown companies in the food and beverage sector. F&N has been making concerted effort in protecting the environment by ensuring that its drinks packaging, such as cans and bottles, are recyclable.
