Malaysia’s Resintech Bhd, a fully integrated supplier of polyethylene products and uPVC, has recently acquired 30% stake in Bionutricia Holding Sdn Bhd (Bionutricia) for RM8.7 million (US$2.06 million).
Bionutricia is a biotechnology firm specialising in the production and commercialisation of plant and fruit-based extracts and active fractions through advanced nano-biotechnology processes.
Resintech diversification into health foods signifies the growing potential that it sees for health food, supplements and other related products as there is growing health awareness among the elderly in Malaysia as well as in other developed countries after the pandemic outbreak.
Resintech Managing Director Datuk Dr Teh Kim Poo said Bionutricia has a solid track record and customer base ranging from multilevel marketing companies to sports nutrition specialists. He added,“It has partnered with universities and the Forest Research Institute Malaysia for R&D activities offering customised formulations that are safe, reliable and of high quality.”
Bionutricia is also among a handful of domestic biotechnology outfits specialising in food or agriculture-based R&D that offer solutions for the food and beverage industry.
Established in 2006 as a trader of nutraceutical, beverage and traditional herbs, Bionutricia now offers services throughout the entire value chain, from sourcing and supplying raw material to R&D, production and warehousing backed by its patented extraction technology. It uses advanced nano-biotechnology processes to extract food and active ingredients derived from local plants and herbs into innovative health solutions for immune-boosting, antioxidants, detoxification, men’s and women’s health and children’s supplements.
