SET-listed PTG Energy, a local operator of 2,250 PT petrol stations nationwide, is allocating Bt 7 billion (US$203 million) in 2025 for the upgrading of its stores as well as growing its Punthai Coffee brand.
Punthai Coffee is one of PTG’s non-oil businesses along with clean energy and Subway sandwich shops, which the company has operated under a master franchise deal since April 2024.
In terms of the coffee business, PTG aims to increase the number of Punthai coffee shops to 1,300 by the end of this year, up from 1,020 currently.
To strengthen its position in the coffee business, PTG signed a MoU with the Royal Forest Department, Mae Fah Luang Foundation and the state-run Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) to ensure steady supply of its coffee beans, while supporting farmers from hilltribe ethnic groups in northern Thailand.
The company aims to source for coffee beans from more diverse areas as sales at its Punthai coffee outlets are growing rapidly by 30% year-on-year.
Meanwhile, another petrol station operator, Caltex has expanded its partnership with Aroma Group affiliate, to open Chao Doi coffee shops at its Caltex service stations with the target of having 200 stores within 5 years.
