In late March, PepsiCo started to reopen its production line in Wuhan after a 58-day lockdown.
The plant, located in the Dongxihu district, is also the site for PepsiCo’s largest production line of Lay’s potato chips which is now running close to 50% of its capacity.
According to Liu Bin, Director of PepsiCo Wuhan, “Employees are the most important assets of PepsiCo, and food safety is PepsiCo’s lifeline. We put these 2 things in a critical position.”
As of April 2020, PepsiCo had also donated more than Rmb 8 million (US$1.13 million) to support China’s fight against COVID-19.
The opening of PepsiCo Wuhan plant signifies the city, which is the source of the pandemic, returning back to its state of normalcy.
