Vietnam’s agricultural firm, the PAN Group JSC has recently signed a cooperation agreement with AGRI SMILE and the Mitsubishi Research Institute from Japan to conduct field trials on rice using biostimulants.
The deal was aimed to enhance climate resilience and nutrient absorption in rice cultivation. The field trials will evaluate biostimulant products developed by AGRI SMILE. The project is expected to support the creation of sustainable farming processes that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote biodiversity and soil health.
The three partners will also prepare regulatory filings and distribution plans for launching these products in Vietnam.
Japan remains PAN Group’s largest export market. In 2024, PAN achieved consolidated revenue of Dong 16.18 trillion (US$634.5 million), with nearly US$100 million worth of goods exported to Japan.
Exports to Japan accounted for 33% of PAN’s total overseas sales, with key products including shrimp, pangasius, nuts, dried fruits, confectionery, and flowers.
