Oishi Group Plc is now planning to become an international franchiser, and it will start by selling franchise for its Japanese restaurant brand, Oishi Biztoro in Bangkok this year. Currently, Oishi operates 8 Oishi Biztoro branches.
Oishi President Nongnuch Buranasetkul said, “After acting as franchisees for 4-5 years for other food brands under Thai Beverage Group, we are now looking to become an international franchiser to expand our Japanese restaurant business.”
Oishi plans to open 10 to 15 Oishi Biztoro branches via franchisees in Bangkok this year.
The company also plans to upgrade service quality and strengthening the operation of Hou Yuu Japanese restaurant and Shabushi by Oishi as well as refreshing each Oishi product category this year. Buranasetkul said, “We will increase our investment budget by 50% this year to Bt 675 million (US$20.7 million).” Majority of the budget will go to the food business and the rest will be allocated to its beverage business. The company plans to open 30 new restaurants in various formats per year for the next 3 years.
Oishi has also raised its product quality by selecting choice ingredients from leading producers around the world, especially from Toyosu Market, the largest fish and seafood market in Japan. There is also a growing focus to develop healthier food and beverages like the zero-sugar green tea in its stable of products.
Oishi is also seeking to strengthen its business in Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, as well as seek new opportunities in other parts of ASEAN.
