Nissin Foods to commence fresh-cut vegetable production line in HK

Japan’s Nissin Food Products Co., Ltd. that specialises in the production and sale of convenience food and instant noodles, will make an initial investment of about HK$7 million (US$900,000) to set up its first production line for pre-packaged, ready-to-eat fresh-cut vegetables at its chilled and frozen food plant near Tai Po Industries Estate. The plant is expected to commence operation in December.
This new plant is part of the company’s goal to reach out to the growing number of health-consicous consumers who prefer healthy, fresh but convenient and affordable food items.
The company’s Hong Kong arm plans to broaden its customer base by adding new products to its lineup in addition to instant noodles, snacks, and chilled and frozen foods, said its CEO Kiyotaka Ando. The group is eyeing mainland China and other countries for pre-cut vegetable sales in the future.
Mr Ando added, “We have been actively but prudently looking for opportunities to invest in appropriate partnerships and facilities, in order to enhance our product portfolio and production efficiency, while further expanding our revenue stream and enhancing overall competitiveness.”
Nissin Foods is the pioneer of instant noodles and a leading manufacturer of instant foods in Hong Kong and southern China. Its core brands include Cup Noodles, Demae Iccho, Doll Instant Noodles, Doll Dim Sum and Fuku. The Group has been actively developing its non-instant noodles business, including ‘Kagome’ vegetable juices, ‘Nissin Koikeya’ potato chips and sticks, granola, as well as distribution business.
