Glico, known for its Pocky sticks and snacks, has launched a new Pocky range in the Philippines in June.
The new product is to suit the growing health conscious trend in the Philippines where modern consumers are seeking guilt-free snacks.
Glico is adding fiber into the pretzel of Pocky in addition to wholewheat which gives the pretzel a lighter and crispier texture. In addition, the rich and smooth chocolate gives the right balance of sweetness while enhancing the unique aroma of the chocolate flavors by adjusting the ratio of cream to biscuit.
Glico has also made a few design changes to better convey the appeal of the natural ingredients. In the Share packs, the link to the package of the standard pack has been made stronger and easier to understand.
Takashi Miki, Marketing Head of Glico Philippines, Inc said, “The year 2022 marks the 100th anniversary of our Glico Group. In that year, we are pleased to celebrate the new re-staging of our flagship brand, Pocky. We want to be a brand and a company that evolves together with society, while keeping our core unchanged. ‘More Happiness, More Goodness!’ will be delivered to the Philippines.”
The new Pocky will be available in major supermarkets and online stores such as LazMall and Shopee Mall.
Healthy SUNAO ice cream launched in Thailand
In a separate development, Thai Glico Co., Ltd has also launched a new brand of SUNAO ice cream in Thailand.
With no sucrose added, SUNAO is in line with the ‘LOCABO’ concept advocated by ‘Eat ? Fun Health Association’, the Japanese organisation that promotes healthy diet backed by scientific data. It recommends taking carb content below 10g for snacking a day.
Thai consumers are also increasingly health conscious and they seek to control their blood sugar while at the same time still want to enjoy delicious healthy snacks including ice cream.
SUNAO is made from aromatic Macadamia nuts and Almonds and contains dietary fibre with no sucrose added. It also uses Hokkaido milk, which adds a rich milky taste thanks to Glico’s extensive knowledge and experiences.
SUNAO ice cream was launched in Japan in 2017 and due to its huge success, the brand has diversified into biscuits, risotto and pasta.
Thailand is one of Glico’s major ASEAN markets and the country hosts Glico’s ice cream and confectionery production facilities to supply to the region. It is no surprise that Thailand is chosen to be the first launch market for SUNAO outside Japan. Glico has plans to expand its other health and wellness brands in this region in the near future.
SUNAO in 81g cup in bag packaging will be exclusively available at 7-Eleven stores in Greater Bangkok, Thailand. The recommended retail price is Bt 69 (US$1.88).
