Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd has recently launched Nescafe Classic Kopi Kedah, made of 100% locally grown coffee beans from the ‘Nescafe Grown Respectfully’ programme.
According to a Nestle spokesperson, “Roasted to perfection and ground to a fine coffee powder, the new Kopi Kedah delivers the signature aroma and taste of Nescafe Classic, bringing to Malaysians a truly authentic coffee experience.”
As a local blend, the Nescafe Classic Kopi Kedah was also packaged in a printed traditional batik aluminium collectible tin can.
Nestle Malaysia CEO Juan Aranols said Nestle had been supporting rural communities in Malaysia for years. “We have been engaged in chili and rice farms across several states and now we are so proud to revitalise coffee farming in Kedah to deliver our first truly local Nescafe Classic Kopi Kedah.”
Nestle Beverages Business Unit business executive officer Othman Chraibi said this was a great start to the Nescafe Grown Respectfully programme, which to date had seen the participation of more than 100 farmers.
The sustainable coffee farming initiative, which was launched in Kedah in 2019, is a collaboration with the Federal Land Development Authority, State Agriculture Department, Kedah Economic Development Authority, Pertubuhan Kami Anak Felda and the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute.
The limited edition Nescafe Classic Kopi Kedah is available in a 170g aluminium tin can and selling for RM23 (US$5.70) at selected local supermarkets.
