Malaysia’s meat processor and distributor, MyAxis Group Bhd has disclosed plan to invest RM11.3 million (US$2.66 million) to expand its processing capacity following its debut on LEAP Market.
MyAxis aims to double its poultry capacity to 708,000 kg from 336,000 kg and triple red meat handling to 1.87 million kg from 624,000 kg.
The investment will include an increase in the group’s annual cold storage capacity by more than 10 times from 53,000kg to 566,000kg.
MyAxis also expects its new halal-certified processing facility in Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah, to be fully operational by 2026. With a built-up area of 17,567 sq.ft, the new facility will source about 50% of its poultry products from Thailand and the other 50% from both China and Malaysia. Bukit Kayu Hitam is located near Thailand border and the location ensures container security and at the same time product quality of frozen meats imported from Thailand.
MyAxis is currently focused on supplying to the domestic market entirely. MyAxis Executive Chairman Datuk Tan Hwa Sing said that the company has also ventured upstream into the processing and sale of poultry and red meat products through its wholly-owned subsidiary, KK Fresh Frozen Sdn Bhd. He added, “With the expanded processing and storage capacities, the group aims to grow its customer base, particularly among food and beverage providers, hotel chains, and processed food manufacturers. We have increased our customer base to 300 nationwide, up from 20 customers in 2024.”
The new facility at Bukit Kayu Hitam will commence operation in 2026.
