Mother Dairy has launched 3 variants of breads and these include sandwich, brown, and fruit & milk with prices ranging from Rs15–Rs40 (US$0.20-0.54) per packet. They will be made available at all its 1,800 milk booths and ‘Safal’ outlets throughout NCR region. It targets revenue of Rs100 crore (US$1.4 million) from bread category in the next 3 years.
Mother Dairy Fruit & Vegetable Pvt Ltd Managing Director Sangram Chaudhary said, “We are diversifying into confectionery and bakery segments with the launch of our breads.”
India’s bread market is estimated to be worth Rs 5,300 crore (US$720.5 million) with an annual growth rate of 10%, with white bread taking the largest share. Sangram expects this year’s growth to slow down due to the pandemic with consumers preferring home delivery over grocery stores.
By offering bread, Mother Dairy capitalises on its existing strong distribution network. Currently, the breads are manufactured by a 3rd party.
