Brazil’s JBS S.A. has confirmed its investment in 2 export-oriented food processing plants in Vietnam.
The first facility will be in the northern port city of Hai Phong, followed by a second plant in HCMC.
The investment plan was revealed earlier in March during the Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva visit to Vietnam. He mentioned that a Brazilian company will invest US$100 million in beef processing plant in the country.
In consideration of the massive investment, the Vietnam government pledged maximum support in terms of assisting JBS with customs procedures, while also advising JBS to comply with local veterinary inspection regulations and other sector-specific requirements.
The planned investment is also expected to strengthen Vietnam’s position as a manufacturing and distribution hub for JBS in Asia.
Sao Paulo-based JBS is one of the world’s largest producer of beef, chicken, pork, salmon, and also selling by-products from the processing of these meats.
