Malaysian dairy firm, Farm Fresh Berhad is eyeing several locations in Luzon to construct a US$20 million farm to breed cattle, according to report from the National Dairy Authority (NDA).
Farm Fresh is seeking to lease land spanning 200 to 400 hectares, preferably in Southern Luzon due to the cooler climate. Farm Fresh is exploring a strategic collaboration for a dairy farm with a herd of 3,000 cows, via its local subsidiary, Farm Fresh Inc.
The dairy farm is expected to commence operations latest by 2028. Currently, Farm Fresh is building a US$5 million dairy processing facility in the municipality of San Simon in Pampanga, which is slated for completion this year. Once completed, demand for local milk from local dairy farmers is expected to grow substantially.
Farm Fresh Founder Loi Tuan Ee said, “The Philippines and Malaysia exhibit remarkable similarities in terms of topography and climate. We see tremendous potential in the Philippines.”
Farm Fresh operates 5 dairy farms in Malaysia and 1 in Australia, as well as 2 processing facilities in Malaysia and 1 in Australia. It has 10,309 dairy cows and bulls, and sold 78.6 million litres of finished products in 2022.
