The pandemic had led to higher incidence of sedentary living as consumers were locked in the comfort of their homes. This has also indirectly led to higher consumption of comfort foods with high fat and sugar contents. As a result, this has led to growing cases of obesity especially among Malaysians. Latest study conducted by Malaysia’s Ministry of Health in 2020 showed that at least half of adult Malaysians are overweight or obese.
New startup Entrusol has come up with healthier snacking options. The company produces healthy snacks that are tasty and nutritious such as nuts, granola, cereal drinks and more. These snacks are Halal-certified and can be consumed by Muslims, who form the majority of the population in Malaysia.
Entrusol operates an e-commerce website that allows consumers to make online purchases of snacks that can be delivered right to their doorstep. The snack company also offers a unique snack subscription service for its consumers where they can buy snacks while at the same time earn redeemable points/rewards.
Moving forward, the company plans to increase its market reach through online channels, as well as pop-up stores in areas such as the Klang Valley. Entrusol also has plans to retail its products in brick-and-mortar stores, and expand overseas where there is demand for Halal-certified healthy snacks such as in Singapore, Thailand, and Brunei.
