Mahsuri Food Sdn Bhd, known for its halal soy sauce products, is investing RM250 million (US$55 million) to open a new 24,000 sq.metre manufacturing plant in Bandar Enstek, in Negri Sembilan which will be operational by early-2025.
Non-Executive Director Datuk Mohd Roslan Mahayuddin said the factory, which will be Mahsuri’s 2nd factory after Shah Alam, will expand Mahsuri’s production capacity and provide high-quality halal food products to consumers, while at the same time allows the company to expand its market overseas. It is eyeing to penetrate the US market within 5 years.
Roslan said the new plant will also be equipped with modern rotary type koji making machine, making Mahsuri the first food company in the Southeast Asian region to use this advanced technology. The factory will also be equipped with warehouses, QA laboratories, R&D centres and offices, and will be using renewable energy source. Roslan added that the company plans to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification so that the plant could operate efficiently while being environmentally sustainable.
Mahsuri products have been popularly used as basic ingredients in Malaysian cuisine. It is now diversifying its halal products as it seeks to expand its market reach in neighbouring markets like Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar and Cambodia and in India and the Middle East.
