Lesaffre, a global leader in bakery yeast and fermentation, and its Indonesian partner PT Citra Bonang have recently signed an investment agreement in Jakarta, Indonesia during the ministerial visit by France President Emmanuel Macron to Indonesia.
This agreement highlighted both parties’ commitment to develop its 9.8 hectare manufacturing facility in Malang, East Java, Indonesia, with the objective of reducing imports, increasing exports, supporting local businesses and contribute to Indonesian food resiliency.
Both partners have been working together since 2000 to distribute French baker’s yeast in Indonesia. This agreement recognizes the strategic importance of strengthening Indonesia’s national production capacities in the fermentation industry.
“The signing of the 2nd phase investment marks a significant milestone and reaffirms PT Citra Bonang’s commitment to supporting government efforts to reduce imports, strengthen local production, and increase foreign exchange earnings for Indonesia,” said Kris Willuan, Chairman of Citra Bonang Group.
Lasaffre’s plant in Malang is in its phase 2 construction which will significantly increase the plant’s capacity to meet the growing demand for innovative baking solutions. This investment confirms Lesaffre’s long-standing commitment to developing its activities in Indonesia, as it has been commercially active in the country for over 40 years.
Lesaffre currently has 4 Baking Center™ and sales offices in Jakarta, Medan, Semarang and Surabaya. The new entity PT Lesaffre Sari Nusa is a partnership between Lesaffre and its Indonesian long lasting partner PT Citra Bonang.
