KyoChon 1991 Malaysia has become the first international Korean fried chicken chain to be certified halal by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM). Fifteen out of its 35 stores mostly in Selangor with 2 each in Johor and Penang will now carry the Halal certification.
According to a company spokesperson, “JAKIM halal certification has always been an important goal for KyoChon 1991 since we launched the brand in Malaysia back in December 2013. We’re extremely fortunate that our franchisor supported us and invested in a multi-million dollar automated factory to produce the KyoChon 1991 sauces and seasonings. This means that KyoChon 1991 customers in Malaysia can enjoy the same taste and quality of ingredients as if they were dining in KyoChon 1991 in Korea as all sauces and marinades come from the same halal factory.”
