Cambodia’s Khmer Fresh Milk Co Ltd has revealed its plan to supply the Cambodian dairy market with 100% local high-quality milk products under strict hygiene standards.
The company Co-Founder Chy Sila said, “We have brought the latest technology and are working with world-renowned Israeli agricultural experts on raising dairy cows and crop production to help us with cultivation techniques and cow health care. We will process 100% pure high-quality natural milk in line with international standards.”
In the preliminary phase, its processing plant is able to produce fresh milk at a rate of between 2,000 and 3,000 litres per day, which will later be increased to 10,000 litres once the production line is at full capacity.
Khmer Fresh Milk Co Ltd was registered in July 2017 with capital investment of US$10 million. Its 300 hectares Kirisu high-tech farm is located in a secluded valley near Phnom Tamao mountain, about 40km south of Phnom Penh.
Khmer Fresh Milk is a long-term partnership between Singapore-based Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar Development Fund II managed by Emerging Markets Investment Advisers (EMIA), Nexasia, a Japanese fund based in Singapore, and the founders group comprising of highly successful Israeli and local Cambodian entrepreneurs.
Presently, Cambodia imports 99% of its milk. Sila said that as early as August, Cambodian retail stores will start to stock its fresh milk, which will later be followed by fresh yoghurt and butter.
