PT Pulau Sambu, the Indonesian company renown for its Kara brand of coconut milk, is now contemplating of venturing into coconut ice cream.
AFBR recent interview with Letitsia Gayatri, Head of Communications from PT Pulau Sambu, mentioned that the company has already developed prototype for consumers to try and sample them out during SIAL Interfood 2022, and once it received enough positive feedback, it will launch the product in the Indonesian market as a start before exporting them to other overseas markets.
The coconut ice cream has a unique ‘burnt coconut’ taste but with a strong coconut flavor and smooth texture that probably appeals to consumers that love the strong coconut aftertaste. As Kara is a well-known brand for coconut products in Indonesia and in the neighbouring countries, an ice cream product with the same brand will probably appeal to the same cream of consumers who appreciate the brand strong and reputable association with quality coconut products.
Kara brand of coconut products include coconut milk which is heavily used by housewives for cooking and dessert preparations, as well as nata de coco in bulk and RTE individual cup packaging.
