During the 3rd China International Consumer Products Expo held in Hainan, Kapal Api coffee from Indonesia received overwhelming response from Chinese consumers.
Its overcrowded pavilion saw baristas busy preparing coffee for Chinese visitors to taste, while its sales representatives were fully occupied entertaining consumer enquiries on their products.
At the expo, a special Indonesian coffee product, ‘Kopi Luwak’ or coffee beans from civet cats were introduced to consumers, said Jiang Jiawen, Marketing Manager of Kapal Api China. Kopi Luwak was selling extremely well in addition to its other coffee products like Java Latte.
Chinese consumers were attracted to Kapal Api coffee silky and smooth taste, with just the right acidity, apart from its reasonable pricing.
According to Robin Setyono, Chief Operating Officer of Kapal Api Global, the Chinese market offers unlimited potential and the expo helps to make Chinese consumers understand and appreciate Indonesian coffee. Setyono believes that Hainan is a strategic launch pad for it to enter the China market.
Kapal Api also hopes to find potential partners to help it grow in the China market.
During the same time, Kapal Api also announced its first coffee shop in Haikou, jointly operated by Kapal Api and Mushan Coffee, a local coffee brand. This marks the first official cooperation between Kapal Api and the local coffee industry.
