In late-2025, IOI Corp has formed a joint venture with Singapore’s Mega Star Holding to set up a coconut mill complex in Segamat, Johor at an investment of US$24 million. The initial capacity is 100,000 coconuts per day. The integrated complex will be completed by the 4th quarter of 2027.
The new facility will produce downstream products like concentrated coconut water and coconut oil.
IOI also plans to expand its coconut plantations to 5,000 hectares a few years after the completion of the complex. IOI aims to scale up production to 300,000 coconuts daily.
IOI plans to commercialise its coconut oil to its customers in the US and EU, while expand the sales of its coconut water to northeast Asian countries including China.
In addition, the new complex is situated adjacent to Segamat’s inland port thereby facilitating shipment of finished products.
