Japan-based House Foods Group has earlier announced plan to establish a subsidiary in Indonesia to produce curry roux products. The new subsidiary firm, House Foods Indonesia is set up with a capital of Rp 340.8 billion (US$20.9 million).
House Foods has established its presence in Indonesia since 2016, selling its halal-certified curry products for commercial use in Indonesia. The popularity of Japanese-style curry has eventually spread to Indonesian households, particularly to dual-income and nuclear families in urban areas. And House Foods then decided to launch halal curry roux for home use in 2024.
The new subsidiary, House Foods Indonesia will build a new factory and plan to start producing halal curry roux for home and commercial use in 2027. The new firm aims to expand sales starting in Indonesia and then export to the global halal market, with an initial sales target of Yen 10 billion (US$67.2 million).
