The world of alternative meats is about to get even more exciting with the recent addition of Eat, Plant, Love (EPL), a new plant-based brand by Ha Li Fa, the renown manufacturer of Singapore’s beloved BoBo fish balls and seafood products.
EPL’s products are Halal-certified, free of cholesterol, trans-fat free, and are also an abundant source of dietary fibre. While there are many plant-based options in the market, few offer Asian-style delights and EPL is about to change this.
EPL will offer a total of 7 alternative seafood and meat products. To showcase the versatility and taste of its Asian-style products, EPL has collaborated with Bib Gourmand eatery, LiXin Teochew Fishball Noodles to come up with Singapore’s first plant-based mee pok.
The taste of the plant-based mee pok will be indistinguishable from the real thing. Available in original and chilli flavours, it will feature EPL’s upcoming plant-based fishcake, minced meat, vegetable rolls (ngoh hiang), as well as fried tau pok. The lard oil, a key ingredient in mee pok, is replaced with in-house-made fragrant shallot oil. All the ingredients are arrayed atop LiXin’s signature springy noodles.
The noodle is slated to be launched at LiXin Chinatown Point from 15 December 2022 at a price of S$6.90 (US$5.25) and is made with 100% plant-based ingredients such as potato, mushroom, spring onion and carrot.
Meanwhile EPL’s full portfolio of products include plant-based fishball (S$5.80), plant-based mushroom ball (S$5.80), plant-based vegetable rolls (S$5.80) and plant-based calamari (S$5.80).
EPL is now available at selected Fairprice supermarkets. Also in EPL’s pipeline are plans to launch Stuffed Tau Pok, Fishcake and Minced Meat, catered towards the food services segment.
