Güntner has been awarded the prestigious ATMO Approved Natural Refrigerants label for the 4th time in a row by ATMOsphere, a global market accelerator for clean cooling and heating solutions. This recertification underscores Güntner’s ongoing commitment to sustainable innovation and the use of natural refrigerants.
Introduced in June 2022, the ATMO Approved label is considered the global gold standard for identifying leading manufacturers and suppliers of natural refrigerant systems and components. Güntner received the label in its first year of launch in 2022 and has successfully renewed its certification every year since.
“This renewed confirmation from ATMOsphere reflects our ongoing focus on making a meaningful climate impact through innovation. We concentrate our efforts where they matter most – reducing emissions during the use phase of our products. This recognition underscores our leadership role in shaping a more sustainable future for cooling,” said Michael Freiherr, Head of Technologies & Innovation and Managing Director, Güntner.
An important new feature of the label criteria for 2025 is the increased focus on the elimination of PFAS (per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances), which include trifluoroacetic acid (TFA). TFA is a by-product of the atmospheric degradation of many HFO and HFC refrigerants and is classified as a “planetary boundary threat” due to potential risks to human health and the environment.
Güntner is a founding member of the Coalition for PFAS Free Cooling & Heating, which promotes natural refrigerants as alternatives to PFAS in cooling and heating systems and advocates for ambitious PFAS regulations in Europe. ATMOsphere is also a founding member of this coalition.
The ATMOsphere Label helps qualified manufacturers and service providers position their products and services in new markets for natural refrigerants. Certified companies can display the label on products, marketing materials, email signatures, and trade show booths to increase their visibility and make it easier for end users to identify top-tier suppliers.
Güntner is the 13th company to be approved for the ATMO Approved Label in 2025, joining a list of respected companies such as Ceptek, RefPlus, and Nihon Netsugen Systems.
