Indonesia-based food tech startup, Green Rebel Foods, has recently disclosed its official entry into the Korean plant-based protein food market. Bryan Toh, Global Vice President of Green Rebel, has announced the launch of Green Rebel in Korea at a restaurant in Seoul’s Seocho district.
The announcement comes after Green Rebel expansion into Southeast Asia last year which included Singapore and the Philippines. Green Rebel has already successfully partnered with over 800 global brands, including Starbucks and Domino’s in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, as well as luxury hotels such as Shangri-La, Westin and Marriott.
Green Rebel formed a collaborative relationship with major Korean food company, CJ CheilJedang in July 2022 after successfully attracting investment. CJ Group’s strong logistics network also benefited Green Rebel.
CJ CheilJedang Corp. is also extremely keen to penetrate the Southeast Asian market and given that Green Rebel’s products are halal-certified and made up of familiar regional spices and flavors, these will offer much room for future collaboration.
