Singapore-based frozen food supplier, Sin Hin Frozen Food has been fined S$10,000 (US$7,450) for repacking raw scallops at its premises that were not licensed for food processing, and then labelling them with expiry date and country of origin that were different from the original label.
The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has confiscated a total of 85kg of products at the site. According to SFA, illegal repacking of seafood at unlicensed facilities also poses a food safety risk. Food suppliers also cannot label any information which is inaccurate or misleading.
